Get Your Heart Pumping!

29 10 2009

This week we have been looking at the impact of exercise on the body, as part of our term topic of Healthy Bodies.

Our initial discussion focused on what we experience when we exercise: red cheeks, sweating, breathing harder, heart pumping, pulse churning. We then focussed on Miss Myers’ favourite question – WHY? We talked about the reasons why your body reacts in this way.

We then tested it! We tested our resting pulse before we went hoola hooping to see the change in our heart rates. Later we tested it even further with skipping. Wow what a difference – lungs working hard, flushed skin, pulse going madly!!!

We are currently working on presenting our new learning, after group work on the different functions of the body responding to exercise.

Check out our rad hoola and skipping moves!!!

I really liked doing the skipping and hulahooping, my heart rate got up to 230.

I thought the skipping and hula hooping was great. It was weird to hear all of the different heart rates
