Girls Rock! Boys Rock!

9 11 2009

Over the course of 8 weeks this term, Grade 5 students are participating in a program called Boys Rock! Girls Rock! There is a boys group and a girls group, and each week they participate in cool activities with the team leaders. The program focusses on things like: self image, friendships, personalities, dealing with problems.

Here are some reflections from S7 students:

“I had fun when we were working in our sketch books, and write about what our bodies do well.” Taya

“It’s really fun!” Shannon

“It gets your mind off what is happening around the school.” Ava

“I think it’s great how we are learning more about ourselves.” Celeste

“It’s really fun, and I like how it is so creative.” Courtney

“I like how we get to do lots of different things, and be really creative.” Khyl

Khyl,
Your statement makes me wonder about something. You said you like “girls rock, boys rock” because your teacher doesn’t mind what you do. Do you think school would be even better if you had more input into what you learned? I’m asking because I think maybe I should give my class more independance into what we are learning. Do you think that would like that? Let me know what you and your friends think, will you? Thanks and have a great week. – Mr. Fletcher

Hey S7 buddies,
Thanks for all the encouraging comments left on the J1 blog for the Preps! We would like to invite you to come and have lunch with us next week on Wednesday 18th and stay with us for the rest of the day. We will think of some cool things for us all to do together. Thanks for being such great buddies!
Mrs G
